Best Places to Watch San Francisco’s NYE Fireworks
December 26, 2017San Francisco is an amazing city. It is even more amazing at night with fireworks by the bay on New Years. Over the waterfront on Embarcadero, the fireworks show starts promptly at 11:59 PM and lasts about 20 minutes. Below are some of our favorite spots to catch the show! Fingers crossed Karl The Fog is not in attendance (sorry Karl)…
San Francisco Ferry Building
One of the best seats and already a must see, the picturesque ferry building is a renowned food market hall with great views of the bay and fireworks show. Beware, it’ll be very crowded as this is a popular destination.
How to get there: Muni/BART station, exit Embarcadero
Telegraph Hill (2 blocks from Telegraph Hill Apartments)
A residential area and small, the famous hill offers some of San Francisco’s most amazing views (the end of Alta Street near Levi’s Plaza & the end of Calhoun Terrace). A seat very much worth grabbing and just a few blocks from North Beach bars on Green Street, Telegraph Hill is an excellent choice.
How to get there: Muni bus lines 8, 30, and 45
Pier 14 Embarcadero
Touristy but family friendly, Pier 14 is a few feet south of the Ferry Building and possibly a better alternative to the ferry building. In fact, head south of Pier 14 and grab a seat at Rincon Park (where Cupid’s Span is located).
How to get there: Muni/BART station, exit Embarcadero
Dolores Park (2 blocks from Dolores Apartments )
Looking for space, lawn seating, and a good place for a picnic? Dolores Park is it. Though this location is weather permitting, as Karl the Fog can be a negative Nancy and obstruct the view.
How to get there: Muni/BART station, exit 16th Street
